Review

Pros:

1. Design is superb. The predator logo in the back lights up when the screen is on which looks awesome. also it's very silent by default. you can increase the fan speed by customising, but not required for normal use.

2. I like the lighting patterns of the backlit keyboard. it has 4 different lighting zone which means at once you can have 4 back colours in your keyboard. and it also has some dynamic patterns like waves, breathing, neon etc, which are cool for showoff I guess. but i generally keep the backlight off to save power.

3. One great plus point for was it's weight. i previously had dell Inspiron 3000 and while purchasing i thought a gaming laptop must be heavier. but it's not at all heavier than my previous laptop.

4. SSD works great. When booting up for first time after a long period, it takes around 30 seconds, 10 among them are taken by the opening animation showing "Predator" sign. subsequent bootup time is around 15 seconds. it is not a big issue for me though.

5. Processor and nvidia 1650 graphics card is great and can deliver good quality and frame rate in any game released till date. you can easily achieve 60 fps in any game in medium graphics atleast. in high graphics, for very recent games, it drops below 60 hz. if you played skyrim, you would understand. in skyrim, loading screen takes less than 20 seconds. in csgo or pubg you can easily get fps of over 100.

6. Storage is sufficient at this price and according to my demand. in total you will get around 1.25 tb storage of hdd and ssd together. the inbuilt os and software does not take much spots. my recommendation is, if you are not playing very recent games, like ac odyssey, battlefield 5 etc, keep your games in hdd and keep the ssd free for better os performance.

7. Battery is OK. but recently i am seeing, it is getting drained a little bit faster than before. maybe i will update on this later.

8. There are some cool gestures you can do in touchpad, with 3-4 fingers. i use 3 finger scroll to turn volume up or down. I don't know if it's a feature of acer or windows 10, but, it's cool.

9. Predator sense is an awesome software which lets you change the aforementioned lighting settings, tell you status of your cpu and gpu and lets you overclock gpu and control fan speed. there is also a different button for turbo booster.

10. Connectivity is good. you get 2 usb 3.0 ports and 1 usb 2.0. transfer speed is around 20 mbps for usb 3.0. did not use the lan port, usb c type or hdmi port.

11. Camera is good for a laptop at least. Do not use it much, but it's a good point here.

Cons:

Please read these carefully. It will help you.

1. Biggest down side of this laptop is its sound which is not only low, sometimes it also becomes high pitched. i decided to take it to servicing, but then it stopped. sometimes, if you turn on the turbo, you may not hear the sound. that's how low it is.

2. When you insert a headphone in the 3.5 mm jack, it does not switch from speaker to headphone immediately. a small notification pops up in the screen where you have to select headphone and then it will activate. since i turn on focus assist while on full-screen (it is also default), if you are doing something in fullscreen and decide to connect a headphone, you have to exit the fullscreen, insert the headphones, select the option and back to whatever you were doing. you just think how tiring it is. Sometimes the option does not show up also. I have to eject and insert thw headphone again. if anyone has any solution to this, please let me know.

3. The charging port location is bad. because while connected the charging cable kind of blocks the path of fan outlet. you have to see to it sometimes.

4. Ok, this is important. when I got the laptop first,I was surprised to see the bad display. Then I got it. actually since it has 2 graphics card, by default, for normal display or multimedia it uses the integrated graphics and uses nvidia for gaming or high performance. but it's integrated graphics card is of very poor quality which is unbearable. so had to change the default graphic card to nvidia for all which also affects the battery a bit. but the nvidia display is superb. that's a good thing.

5. RAM size is not good for high quality gaming. my suggestion is , you should upgrade the ram size to 16 gb or higher for lagfree gaming experience, if you are playing latest high graphics games.

Review

First thing I like to mention is that this laptop has metal body which keeps it extremely cool in normal and moderate usage. It gets considerably warm while playing heavy games. After 4 to 5 hours of continuous gaming it gets quiet hot, so I wouldn't recommend lap usage or on bed usage for gaming. The plus side is that it has powerful cooling mechanism which helps cooldown extremely fast than other laptops in this range. Fan noise is moderate but bearable.

Turbo button is a bliss. It quickly boosts the performance as well as cooling, but it only works when laptop is charged above 40% or plugged in.

The only thing I personally didn't like is the position of charging port, it is on the right side of laptop and fairly in middle, charger wire gets in way of mouse movements if not placed properly. Also charging port is quite rigid, it doesn't accepts the charger quickly, it will improve over usage I believe.

For few users, the inbuilt speakers may seem bit low, for me sound is okay for single person, it comes with waves audio configuration which can be updated to get loud sound.

Sound with headphones is amazing, it ships with audio profiles suitable for different types of games.

Rest all features are great, be it keyboard lighting, screen quality, screen brightness, wifi performance etc.

8GB RAM is sufficient for most of the games, it is upgradable to 32GB.

Same is with SSD, there are internally there are 2 SSD slots, so SSD is upgradable too.

Note: There is no memory SD card slot in this laptop.
